A tribute to those who’ve left us too early!
There are times in our lives when we may feel ultimate despair.
We feel unworthy, unheard, desperate, lonely, and feel vast amounts of pain. We want those around us to know our misery and they do not. How can they? We cannot fathom why they have abandoned us and we somehow believe they have!
If we really ask ourselves, have we truly tried to speak with those we love? Do they have any idea of what we are going through? Is that what our despair and pain is all about? Have we stopped listening to ourselves?
Or, have we abandoned our loved ones by not trying to share our story.
Can we listen deeply to ourselves and truly understand our deepest selves?
I believe we can. With a little guidance and patience we can develop an understanding of ourselves.
We never know if the person sitting next to us has been in this space before. If we are being silent, we may never know the comfort of relating to someone else who has gone before us and found a way through the darkness to the light. Not knowing and not trying, only increases our suffering.
When we first see that the key to having an understanding is believing there is a power greater than ourselves, a universal power that truly knows our pain, we can then begin to accept that we will be ok. We realize we are truly not alone, and the pain will stop.
Suicide happens when there is so much pain and suffering. At this time, there is a belief that truly there is no way out of our pain. I am here to tell you that is not true! There is always a way from hopelessness to hope, from helplessness to help!
Has our pain blinded us from seeing our value? This is why calling a friend, telling our spouse, and or calling the suicide prevention lifeline is a must!
If we learn that we have the ability to gain strength from others and develop a belief, or a knowledge in a universal understanding, or a higher power, we can then begin to accept ourselves and our pain.
No more hiding or secrecy. Just the ability to reach out.
I wish Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade and the thousands of others had this knowledge.
I hope by reading this blog, those who struggle will realize there is a solution, and will reach out also.
