Pandemic and You: How to cope?

Covid -19, hit the United States in February 2020. What we imagined would be short lived has turned into our worst nightmare.

Why would I make such a statement?

In July, we still ranked among the top three countries in world for Corona Virus, in numbers effected and the death rates.  I believed that the United States was viewed as number one in innovation and advanced medical care in the world. Unthinkable, that in the 21st century, our nation would have such a poor response to diagnosis, treatment of this dreadful illness, and the elimination of spread of this pandemic.

Our federal response has been to withdraw financial support to the World Health Organization. Instead of collaboration, the US has remained isolated from working with the top scientists of other countries. In order to maintain a sense of security and well-being. the CDC has recommended social distancing of 6 feet, facial masks, frequent hand-washing, and to avoid attending any gatherings where there are more than 4- 6 people.

The nightly news reflects that in many cities and states those recommended guidelines are not being observed. Our people are feeling their lack of control over their own self, their children, and their family’s well-being. We’ve become enmeshed in a cycle of negative thoughts and feelings. Overwhelmed and lacking resources we cut ourselves off. Needs also include someone to confide in and to share with on a mutual basis, and connection with a higher power being defined by our own determination and definition.

Our new, “Just Call Lisa” Empowerment Group, is starting in late Summer 2020. You are invited to our life affirming group and you can get a preview by listening to the “Just Call Lisa: Empowerment Group” Podcast!
